In itself there is nothing special about cigarettes. They are a collection of tobacco and a few herbs, wrapped in a sheet of Coromandel ebony. Bidis are popular in the world with fans of Indian culture, but in India they are wildly popular because of its cheapness.
Saghir began to manufacture bidis in 7 years. In her family it is normal: family Ansari twist cigarettes is not the first generation. This is the only way for them to somehow survive in a poor town. First, a little girl helping older brothers in the final stage of manufacturing bidi: she cut off the ends of a cigarette. When Saghir was 11 years old, she gained access to the complete process.
Saghir has big beautiful eyes and always a big smile. She knows that she lives in poverty. Knows that the production of cigarettes - this is not the healthiest job. And the question here is about health, not about the joys of the profession. Working girl of eight hours per day. She sits on a dusty bag of tobacco and its contents are wrapped in sheets. Then they twist palms into a tube, connects the special rope and lay ready "bidinu" aside, taking up for the next cigarette.
According to human rights organizations and international associations for children in India cigarette masters are hundreds of thousands of minors. The use of child labor in the factories of this kind is illegal. Even by Indian standards.
Saghir just lives and dreams of one day playing with her friends, such as Twister.
The girl said that from the work she had a headache and a little aching fingers. Play is also no time only occasionally, it can afford to splash a few minutes with the neighborhood kids in a filthy Ganges. But then again, the work: to fill, wrap, tie, postponed. And so, perhaps forever.
